Long-distance move from East Rockaway, NY to Summerville, SC

Chase lied to us under estimated and then we got extorted for 6000 mor

They extorted me and my family out of 6000 dollars. We needed to mover from Long Island to Summerville South Carolina, we went online to find a moving company we put in a request for quotes and got 20 companies calling us. We interviewed a few then Chase a worker from call my mover came by Short guy who drives a Cheap white Baby Benz came over seemed ok but should have been skeptical since he had this cracked iPad. He gave us a quote for $7000 which was fair from the other people we had interviewed. Everything seemed great till it was 4 days before the move and He was supposed to come back and reestimate on 7/22/24 and he texted me that he was sick with his belly hurting him. And told me he will be by tomorrow or Monday. Well he never showed up and then tells me his office wouldn’t allow him to come by my house and he will be by me on the day of the move. Well the day of the Move came and he didn’t show up, the guys packed half my stuff up then they came inside to say we have to re evaluate this and wouldn’t unload it unless we paid since now the bill was 6000 more . AThe guy RJ calls up Chase not knowing I am on speaker and everything we told RJ Chase said and promised us was a lie. And you could hear him stuttering like the kid from Billy Madison. Then I started talking and he didn’t know what to do. I told him I Knew where he lived. (I had my friend run his plates since I took a picture of his car) he goes back and tells his boss that I said I would go to his house but his guys were all my witness lol. It was just another lie from him all the guys working on both trucks call him the short King and say he is a weasel and customers are never happy with him and how he always screws up and purposely underestimates. The workers always get screwed out of the tip

That was put on

My bill. I now paid 6000 over and have 7000 in damaged items. Still never received my final bill.

Long-distance move from Centerport, NY to Charleston, SC

RUN!! Do NOT do business with this FRAUDULENT, EXTORTIONARY company!

Gabe and his cronies (Chase, Linda and Gill) at Tri-State Relocation Services, (d/b/a CALL MY MOVER/WE ARE MOVERS/TRI STATE AREA MOVERS) PREY on older folks who are unlikely to read the horrific reviews on the internet. They COLD-CALLED my parents. Chase, the personable home estimator, came to their home and presented my parents with a detailed printout and reasonable FIXED-RATE PRICE “guaranteeing transparency and eliminating the worry of unforeseen charges and fees.” My father paid a $100 deposit via CREDIT CARD to secure the date.

On March 26th, SUBCONTRACTORS showed up with a small Budget rental truck. The foreman, Kyle, claimed that “the company gave him the wrong specifications.” He captured my mother’s SIGNATURE on his phone, supposedly to 1) confirm insurance option 2) confirm 5 movers present, and 3) that nothing flammable would be transported. The movers then DISASSEMBLED most of the furniture and left gouges across the walls, floors and ceilings. At the end of the day, they told my parents that they needed a bigger truck. They left the remaining belongings outside in the driveway, coming back late the next day to take the rest.

My parents were expecting the movers to arrive in South Carolina on April 4th. Gill called two days before delivery and insisted upon a CERTIFIED CHECK (no credit card allowed now) for $13,700 - MORE THAN $5,000 OVER THE FIXED-RATE PRICE! My father refused, saying he would not pay anything until he received an itemized invoice explaining the additional charges. Two hours later, he received a THREATENING phone call from Linda SCREAMING and SWEARING at my father that he was “PLAYING F*CKING GAMES” and unless she got the certified check within the hour, she would turn the truck around to NY AND charge them thousands more.

My father agreed to pay the initial $8,600 plus an additional $885 for “furniture reassembly" (!!!) He was instructed to send a PHOTO of the certified check. On April 4th, a new truck staffed by different local SUBCONTRACTORS arrived. The foreman told them he had been instructed not to unload until the remaining $4,750+ was paid via certified check. An electronic “contract” was produced with my mother’s signature LIFTED from Kyle’s phone in NY and INSERTED all over the document. Further, there were FORGED “initials” dated April 2nd, TWO DAYS BEFORE the truck ever arrived at their new home, certifying that NO DAMAGE had been done.

My parents were INTIMIDATED into handing over a second certified check just to get their belongings released from the truck. And only then did my parents realize that nearly every piece of furniture packed by the NY movers - many of them precious antique heirlooms - had been DAMAGED or DESTROYED beyond repair. Cracked sofa arms, disjointed tables, shattered bed frames, WATER-damaged family photos… The SC subcontractors dumped their broken belongings all over the house and insisted that they sign the “final contract” agreeing to everything in the FRAUDULENT, FORGED document. My parents refused. Foul-mouthed Linda then called my father and told him since he “didn’t sign the final contract, he was “no longer eligible for any damage repair or compensation.”

We have sent 40+ photos documenting the damages and have received NO response. My parents’ attorney has sent a demand letter to retrieve the $5,000+ in extra charges, with NO response. CALL MY MOVER/WE ARE MOVERS/TRI STATE AREA MOVERS/TRI STATE RELOCATION SERVICES are CRIMINALS who TARGET unsuspecting older people. They engage in FRAUD, FORGERY, EXTORTION, INTIMIDATION and CRIMINAL NEGLECT. They have multiple outstanding judgments and lawsuits against them, under different company names. EVERY review reveals the same pattern of criminal behavior. The hidden “5 star reviews” on Yelp are laughable - you’ll notice they are all posted ON THE SAME DATE(S). Clearly, a slow day at the office for LawnGuyland Linda and her foul mouth.

These unscrupulous, greedy thugs need to be in JAIL. Anything to make a buck, especially at the expense of hardworking older folks who won’t see through their scam… until it’s too late.

Local move from Bronx, NY to Middletown, NY

CON ARTISTS

My mother-in-law was moving out of her one-bedroom apartment, so she started to research- when, out of the blue, she gets a call from this moving company (that she never gave her number to). They quoted her an estimate of $900, so she hired them, they came and packed everything and when they were done "revised" the quote to $3,000, which they wanted IN CASH, ON THE SPOT.

I would think that a company that has supposedly been around for 25 years would be able to provide reasonably accurate estimates instead of TRIPLING the price AFTER the work has already been done, and be able to take credit cards in case it ends up being more than expected.

Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY to Cabery, IL

Careful with fragile boxes.

I highly recommend this moving company! I moved from NY to IL and they gave me the best quote. They showed up on time, packed up the truck in about 30 minutes to an hour and took about the same amount of time to unload. They were very communicative, quick, careful with fragile boxes I had, and even offered to tighten up some loose screws on some of my furniture. I will definitely recommend them to friends and family!!!

Totally satisfied!!

We used Tri-State Area Movers for the second time today for our move and are totally satisfied!! They kept clear communication throughout the entire day. Asked questions if they had them and doubled checked how and where I wanted things. They went above and beyond helping with things that may not have been in the original contract but clearly things we needed help with. They kept asking if there was anything else they could do. They told us up front what the maximum charge would be and since we fully expected to pay the full price, which anyone should, we were pleasantly surprised when it wasn't quite as much as we thought. Worth every single penny. And will use again if we need to.

Careful and courteous with our items.

This is the second time using Tri-State Area Movers, this time we used them in two cities. Both times the team of two were professional, careful and courteous with our items. The movers were highly professional in loading our 26 foot truck of belongings. Moving is stressful as it is, but they take away the burden of loading and unloading of items, my back isn't what it used to be. When we need to move in future we will be using them again.

They packed our boxes very carefully.

If you are moving- look no further than Tri-State Area Movers. They have moved us twice and we will have them again, heaven forbid we move again. They packed our boxes very carefully- no breakage at all. They were pleasant, quick and very professional. Our moving team were even more amazing. They too were pleasant, quick and professional. They picked up all their supplies. No bumps or scratches on our brand new home. We will ask for them by name-should we ever need help. Tri-State Area Movers should be you first and last call for help.

Long-distance move from Syracuse, NY to La Grange, CA

We would DEFINITELY hire them again if needed!

Our movers were AMAZING! They wrapped all of our furniture and managed to get it all down the stairs and into the truck with no problem and in record time! Moving into our new place, they managed to get our heaviest piece of furniture into our upstairs bedroom without scratching or breaking it and we were SO grateful! They were quick and efficient -- I'm certain the two of them moved us out of our old place and into this new place faster and with more care than the THREE MAN team who moved us into our old place! We would DEFINITELY hire them again if needed!
