THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND INPROFESSIONAL. I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START. FIRST OF THEY DONT USE THEIR OWN TRUCKS. THE USE OLD TRUCKS THAT BREAK DOWN AND HOLD YOUR STUFF HOSTAGE. THEY GIVE YOU A PRICE AND ITS A TOTAL LIE. THEY ARE ON BBB LIST OF TOP COMPLAINTS. DO NOT BE DESPERATE LIKE ME. KEN WHO DID THE QUOTE FIRST OFF CAME AND TOOK A MASSIVE SHIT IN MY APARTMENT AND IS NOT PROFESSIONAL IN THE LEAST BIT. LINDA IS THE CHARMER OF THE COMPANY. TRYING TO COME OFF SO NICE ABOUT EVERYTHING. FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION. I FELT UNEASY FROM THE BEGINNING. THE DAY OF THE MOVE 3 GUYS CAME IN SMELLING OF STRONG WEED LIKE THEY JUST GOT THROUGH SMOKING. THEY LOOKED AT MY STUFF AND SAID THEY ARE CHARGING BY THE BAGS. MIND YOU MY STUFF FIT IN A MEDIUM UHAUL. THEY CAME WITH A HUGE A$$ PENSKE TRUCK. THEY DONT HAVE LOGO TRUCKS. THERE OFFICE DOESNT HAVE A LOGO. THEY KEPT COMPLAINING ABOUT SOME OF MY FURNITURE STATING THIS CAM EASILY BREAK. THEN BEFORE LEAVING THEY SAID THEY WERE HUNGRY AND IF I CAN TIP THEM NOW WHILE THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY. I GAVE THIS SONS OF B@#%^ 140 DOLLARS. WHEN I CALLED THEM 5 MINUTES AFTER LOADING THEY DID NOT PICK UP THEIR PHONE. 1.5 HOURS INTO DRIVING TO MY DESTINATION ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK IS MESSED. EVERYONE IS AVOIDING MY CALLS. IM WAITING HOURS LATER BEFORE A SO CALL MANAGER CALLS ME STATING THAT THE TRUCK GOT OVERHEATED. I SPOKE TO LINDA WHO GAVE A DIFFERENT STORY THAT THE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT MY STUFF WAS PACKED BY 1230P MONDAY. I DIDNT GET MY STUFF UNTIL AFTER 11PM Tuesday. THEY REFUSE TO RELEASE MY STUFF UNTIL I PAID MY BALANCE. MIND YOU ITS 155 PER HOUR. SO HOW DO I HAVE A BALANCE. THIS COMPANY WILL DEAL WITH HORRIBLE KARMA. EVERY SINGLE PERSON APART OF THIS SCAM WILL DEAL WITH HORRIBLE KARMA. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IF CAN SAVE SOMEONE ELSE A FAMILY A SINGLE MOTHER A PERSON IN A DESPERATE SITUATION ANYONE. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I DONT DO WELL WITH BEING ROBBED. I WILL MAKE SURE MY VOICE IS HEARD. They extorted me and my family out of 6000 dollars. We needed to mover from Long Island to Summerville South Carolina, we went online to find a moving company we put in a request for quotes and got 20 companies calling us. We interviewed a few then Chase a worker from call my mover came by Short guy who drives a Cheap white Baby Benz came over seemed ok but should have been skeptical since he had this cracked iPad. He gave us a quote for $7000 which was fair from the other people we had interviewed. Everything seemed great till it was 4 days before the move and He was supposed to come back and reestimate on 7/22/24 and he texted me that he was sick with his belly hurting him. And told me he will be by tomorrow or Monday. Well he never showed up and then tells me his office wouldn’t allow him to come by my house and he will be by me on the day of the move. Well the day of the Move came and he didn’t show up, the guys packed half my stuff up then they came inside to say we have to re evaluate this and wouldn’t unload it unless we paid since now the bill was 6000 more . AThe guy RJ calls up Chase not knowing I am on speaker and everything we told RJ Chase said and promised us was a lie. And you could hear him stuttering like the kid from Billy Madison. Then I started talking and he didn’t know what to do. I told him I Knew where he lived. (I had my friend run his plates since I took a picture of his car) he goes back and tells his boss that I said I would go to his house but his guys were all my witness lol. It was just another lie from him all the guys working on both trucks call him the short King and say he is a weasel and customers are never happy with him and how he always screws up and purposely underestimates. The workers always get screwed out of the tip

100% scammers. Do NOT fall for their trap. They will lowball the quote. Chase, the sweet talking sales guy will say all the right things to guarantee you good service. Come day of the move, they are 3 hours late, force you to sign a new contract, take their jolly 'ol time, they are not professional just 3 guys in a budget rental truck. They will load your furniture, it will take 4-5 hours more than originally quoted to move literally 7 min drive within the same town. They are on Better Business Bureau, look them up. They should be shut down. They will NOT move your furniture out of the truck unless you pay all the extras they have now loaded up. They even wanted me to pay for their driving from Long Island to Greenwich CT when my move is within Greenwich CT. Chase also told me they were coming from Stamford. Lie after lie. I called them cops too. Complete SCAM. Karma will come back to this entire business full of crooks especially Chase, who started it all. DO NOT BE FOOLED. STAY AWAY OR YOU WILL END UP PAYING 3-4x their initial quote, have a 100% guaranteed stressful moving experience, and waste 5-6 more hours of your life.

If give them a minus 5 . They quoted me one price over the phone and when they arrived, they said it would be almost double the price quoted to me. When I tried to cancel, they said they would have to charge me for cancellation. They said why don’t you let them move most of your items, and have the rest delivered later on. I agreed because I did not want to be charge a cancellation fee and thought they would charge me the original price quoted or less. On the way to my new place, they have this woman who they claim was the manager call be to tell me that they were charging me $1,200 and thety were only moving half of my stuff. They demanded that I pay them the amount they asked for by certified check or cash and only told me this on the way to my new air. I told them that was too much because they were only moving half of my stuf. She said it goes by square footage. I said if it goes by square footage it should be less square footage because there is less furniture. She again stated it was because of square footage. When we got to my new address, the big guy who was in charge demanded I give them $1,209 by certified check or cash, or they were going to take my things to a warehouse and call the police. My husband asked them if he can check the truck to make sure we got all our stuff, and they said no we could not check the truck. I had to go to my bank while they had my stuff in their truck to get a certified check for $1,200 in addition to the $100 they collected as a deposit and they did not deliver all of my stuff. They damaged some of the items they did deliver. There were scratches on my dresser and cabinet and they broke the tv stand on one of my TVs. We realized later that they had stolen a lot of my brand new designer shoes that were in some of our boxes. The mover in charge was the one calling all the shots. He had a woman call us from his company as his supervisor , but in reality it was clear that he was the one in charge calling all the shots and telling her what to say to us. This company should not be in business. They overcharge people and steal our belongings and didn’t say you have to pay cash u til they are on their way with your possessions in their truck. So we had no choice but to pay them an exorbitant amount by certified cash. Do not use this company or you will regret it. They should be taken out of business, and I made a report to the better bureau. In addition to paying them $1,300 for half my belongings, they stole some of my belongings and I had to pay and additional $250 for the rest of my belongings. RUN don’t walk away from this company.

I highly endorsed these guys merely on their customer kindness and their willingness and accessibility to help me in my time of need! They were able to book me for the very next day for my short notice emergency. I have not actually used Tri-State Area Movers but I was in a circumstances where I had employ another company which was believe to arrive at 9 am. Manage my disappointment when the movers I did hire in the end showed up at 3 pm! I called them at 1 pm as a consequence the movers I did hire still had not shown. Well Tri-State Area Movers recognize my need and was QUICK TO HELP! I was so relaxed.

If I could give this moving company zero stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and use ANY other company. Our experience with this company was a disaster from start to finish. They broke their contract, showed up 5 hours late, and failed to provide the correct equipment—despite multiple prior calls and clear instructions. We specifically requested a truck with a lift gate and a lift jack due to the weight of two toolboxes (each over 600 lbs). They showed up in a budget rental truck without any of the necessary equipment—no lift gate, no dolly, no moving blankets. The movers insisted they could handle the toolboxes without the right gear and, unsurprisingly, ended up scratching them in the process.

After hours of delays and frustration, I had no choice but to call another moving company. Piece of Cake Moving arrived the next day, fully equipped with a lift gate and a small crew, and moved the toolboxes without a hitch.

Not only was the original company unprofessional and completely unprepared, but their customer service was rude and contradictory. One minute they told me they couldn’t move my toolboxes because the lift gate couldn’t handle the weight, then in the next breath, they promised they could come back in two days and do it. Which is it?

To make matters worse, when I tried to cancel due to their incompetence, they threatened to put a lien on my property! I’ve never encountered a company this unprofessional and unethical. They broke the contract by failing to show up on time and without the agreed-upon equipment, yet they still had the audacity to issue legal threats.

Save yourself the headache and wasted time. Use literally any other moving company—this one is absolutely not worth the stress.

They quote a low price, put all of your belongings in their rented truck and then refuse to release any of it until you give them a big bag of cash!! On top of that, they use a fraudulent certificate of insurance as they are uninsured (and uninsurable as they are thieves!) so there will be zero compensation for all the damage they will absolutely do to whatever of your stuff you can manage to buy back from them. They scammed us out of over $7k. Don’t let it happen to you!!

I am writing to express my extreme disbelief and disappointment regarding my scheduled move from Hicksville to Port Washington yesterday which was not completed.

The movers came around 10 am. Gave them instructions on what furnitures n boxes to be moved and transported. The guys starts loading and packing for 4 hours (till around 2pm) , not even touching the refrigerator that was included in the move and took them another 3 hours to disassembled n haul the refrigerator to the truck that being said it was 5 pm..

Then Dipi from your office called me around 2 pm and told me that it exceed the cubic feet that was initially quote to me by Chase which was $ 1000 to now becomes $4000 quadrupling the cost.As this has been unbelievably unacceptable and we felt hostage to pay $4000. Not considering that we will not get to move our stuff that night and end up sleeping on the floor of our new place.

Plus I have to pay your movers again today for another 3-4 hours to bring, unload and assemble my furniture estimating to about close to $ 1000. That being said this whole chaos and madness of this moving encounters with Tristate Area movers cost me about $5000.. have I known how bad your company was I should have gone with Piece of Cake which was only charging me less than $2000.

When i gave the moving instructions to your estimator Chase. It was clear that we have to move to Port washington and be done by 5 pm as per Coop policies otherwise I will be fine with $1000 .The movers procrastinate and drag the whole moving time. They told me that no instructions was given to them that the move must be completed by 5 pm.

Your estimator Chase did not disclosed any hidden charges and gave us erroneous estimate. And you expect me to give your company a 5 star review. This whole experience with your company has been a horrific experience from the beginning with asking for a COI weeks before the schedule move and with moving that is taking 2 days.

I am very stressed, disappointment. that this move did not go well as expected. It was truly a disaster and a terrifying experience with Tri state Area movers.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5500

I wrote previously about the horrendous experience we had moving from Long Island to Richmond, Va. It was a disaster in nearly every way. Almost all of the furniture was damaged or broken (a lot of chafing against other items, poorly wrapped, glass and marble broken, concrete statuary all broken, paintings punctured or completely missing, CASH AND JEWELRY MISSING (they started stealing things as they were "packing" items they were told to leave alone). The movers camehours late -- stinking of dope -- were disorganized, haphazard, and eventually physically threatening when we started raising objections.

Delivery was late, and incomplete! We waited three weeks for delivery of all our goods--they attempted to deliver the wrong things on one occasion, and when the final truck came, it was still missing items AND THEY HAD ACTUALLY SWAPPED-OUT NICE MATTRESSES FOR CRAP ONES.

AND - to add insult to injury, they hold your items hostage until you pay the "new, adjusted fee" according to either space, or weight, or hours, or whatever new metric they're introducing to justify the dramatically-increased charge inflate the charges which, in our case, was over 150% or original quote

So, we paid extra for insurance, because shit happens. When we tried to exercise that insurance, TRI STATE'S OWNER, GABRIEL (GAVRIEL) AVGI ADMITTED THAT THEY ARE SELF-INSURED AND DON'T PROCURE THE ACTUAL "COVERAGE" YOU PAY FOR. They pay to fix the damage themselves (despite you paying for coverage), EXCEPT THAT THEY DON'T PAY, FOR ANYTHING.

When you are able to track down Mr. Avgi, he's "in the middle of something" and will call back. Never does.

Mr. Avgi provides an a-mail address for proof of claims, you send them, he is silent, then in a few days, tells you they haven't been received (probably 3x in our experience). Then, silence.

We recovered nothing despite damage to/destruction of over half the furniture shipped (nearly everything was damaged, it was just a question of how severely).

Avgi and TriState hide behind the Carmak Amendment, a 1920s law insulating interstate movers from most common law Tort claims, and limiting the types and amounts of damages recoverable. Knowing how difficult it is to bring a successful claim, Mr. Avgi operates with total disregard for the law and the customer, and with total immunity. When the truth gets out about who he is and what he does, he changes the name of the business and/or declares bankruptcty and moves.

Gabriel Avgi is a crook, plain and simple, and TriState Movers -- the one run by Gabriel Avgi, not the poor guy Joe M. who looks to go by a very similar name and gets dragged-in to these assessments -- is essentially a criminal operation.

Since writing my original review, I have received communications from 5 other individuals who had been victimized; retirees, a doctor, a rabbi, the list goes on. And you can see the other reviews - they tell much the same story.

What are also clearly frauds are the shining positive reviews Tri State received/s. They are incredible, as in you won't believe it, as in non-credible - they aren'[t to be believed because they're fake.

Do yourself a huge favor and stay the hell away from Gabriel Avgi and TriState Movers, or whatever name is now over the front door.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $30000

After leaving in the rain they opened boxes and turned them upside down into other boxes which apparently also got soaked and crushed. My grandmother's glass were not put in the box for glassware which we bought and paid for and were broken. I will make one positive note, nothing was stolen or missing. We had a three leg move and were tipping in stages which apparently ticked them off and they tried to intimidate us, when they didn't get their way apparently they went into action. I never received an inventory after untold amount of requests in writing, phone and three on person visits to the warehouse. We have broken lamps which were just thrown into a box with whatever they else they dumped int the box with them, no lamp was wrapped. They took apart a bedroom set and showed up without the legs to the bed, dresser and armoire and without hardware to attach the headboard and bottom frame nor parts attach mirror to dresser. Boxes with bed pillows were moldy by being put into storage for four weeks until the last leg of our move. The guys who delivered were fine, but the packers were even trying to be intimidating. They left without moving our washer and dryer which was a condition of our closing, they were supposedly fired when we went to the warehouse to speak to Gavi. Ther is more but it really is too much to write and relive.

If you value your money and/or your possessions, DO NOT HIRE this company. Nothing but thieves, lies, fraudulent estimates, unprofessional and rude staff. Charged more than double the estimated price, stole several irreplaceable original pieces of artwork and an entire collection of jewelry. They held my stuff for 17 days which allowed them plenty of time to go through everything and steal what they wanted. The remainder of my possessions were literally thrown in the back of a budget truck. Broken, dented, scratched, smashed. I am devastated and in disbelief that this company gets away with doing this to so many innocent customers. Are they accountable to no one? CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.
